Your wedding is a significant event
The Bible reveals the unique relationship of marriage as a thing of beauty-a wild and romantic love affair, as well as a courageous and loyal life commitment.
At Hope Coming we are dedicated to helping, couples prepare to pursue everything that God intended marriage to be. Counseling is conducted in private sessions with each couple, rather than in classes or groups. This allows the counselor to evaluate where each couple is in regard to his/her life experiences and beliefs about love and marriage. The number of counseling sessions is open-ended, but couples typically attend between five to ten one-hour sessions. Sessions are designed to help couples understand:
-
The Biblical purpose of marriage
-
Issues that individuals bring into the marriage that hinder that purpose.
-
What is required for the purpose.
-
The energy that will keep couples motivated toward the purpose.
-
The process of restoration if and when violations occur.
While statistics show a minimum of 50% of all marriages end in divorce, Hope Coming is aware of less than 10 divorces of the over 150 couples we have counseled. Some of those couples were advised to delay their weddings because of issues that they were not yet addressing, but hey chose to marry anyway.
Beginning the process of premarital counseling does not guarantee that your wedding will be approved. If your counselor sees any issues serious enough for them to postpone or cancel your wedding date, until these issues are addressed, they have the authority to do so, Church elders have the final decision regarding each wedding officiated by a Hope Coming pastor.
