Hope Coming Iceberg

The Iceberg

We use the iceberg because it is a perfect illustration of the way we learn to live life.

The tip of the iceberg represents the way we live when appearance and performance are the focus. Most of us are raised with this emphasis.

To live at the tip of the iceberg often feels easier since we usually know what people expect from us at this level. Yet, in the long run, it leaves us as shallow, superficial people since Scripture tells us that we were created for more than this.

In fact, the Lord reveals that His focus is on the personal part, that which dwells at the bottom of the iceberg. Thus, the biblical warning regarding life as an iceberg.

God has never existed outside of relationship,Therefore we were created for relationship. God is three persons (Father, Son and Spirit) who have always existed together and who know one another perfectly - resulting in Oneness, wherein they live in perfect harmony and unity.

God made all people in His image. Therefore, everyone was created for relationship that leads toward oneness. This is why everyone experiences feelings of love.

But, since God declares that He alone is love, it follows that no one initially learns how to love from God. We intitially learn how to love from our parents and other relationships that we experience growing up. While some of these relationships may have been good, each had a flaw that can twist our determination of love. Only God does it perfectly.

Hope Coming exists for the purpose of knowing God and being known by God. The journey toward that purpose allows us to biblically understand God, our lives and our relationships.

Each individual or couple is provided a safe and confidential environment to talk through and sort out any issue that is causing a problem. Scripture allows us to trace our struggles back to the personal image-bearing part of us, the heart. Scripture provides precise details about our hearts and how to examine our hearts to discover what we really believe about God and His word, about ourselves, and about what we are trying to accomplish with our lives. The confusion over these issues leads to every non-organic problem faced by mankind today, especially the breakdown of families. Many, if not all of us, require help in sorting through the belief system that controls our behavior and emotions.
