The Iceberg

We use the iceberg because it is a perfect illustration of the way we learn to live life.

The tip of the iceberg represents the way we live when appearance and performance are the focus. Most of us are raised with this emphasis.

To live at the tip of the iceberg often feels easier since we usually know what people expect from us at this level. Yet, in the long run, it leaves us as shallow, superficial people since Scripture tells us that we were created for more than this.

In fact, the Lord reveals that His focus is on the personal part, that which dwells at the bottom of the iceberg. Thus, the biblical warning regarding life as an iceberg.

Counseling
All counselors or therapists endeavor to help people move away from or through personal problems toward a better quality of life.

The beliefs of the counselor about what the quality of life should be and what causes a person to change are part of the counselor's model and theory of counseling. It is therefore important for anyone seeking counseling. to know the basis of the counselor's beliefs about what is "normal" and motivates a person to change.

HCM STRUCTURE

HCM is governed by a Corporate Board of Directors: Frank Tomlinson (President); Greg Marderian (Secretary); Frank Tomlinson II (Treasurer). Our Bookkeeper is Sylvia Tomlinson and the Corporate Attorney is Loren Sherman, Esq. HCM Counseling Staff consists of licensed pastors Frank Tomlinson and Patrick McAlister.

HCM Associates are professionals willing to donate their services to the military and consist of Dunbar Tuason (licensed contractor and master builder whose resume includes spearheading the building of homes in Simi Valley for Habitat for Humanity); Steven Cheney (an artist with a camera who does studio work and outside projects); Raymond Cruz (a businessman who specializes in finances and business planning); Frank Tomlinson II (owner of OceanFresh Seafood and OceanBar).

Any military person seeking help from an associate should make a request to HCM. Each project will vary, based on time and donations. Our desire is to have a sufficient reserve of donations so that we can offer all of our services to the military without cost.
